Hangar was started in 2021 to help students in Byron Center. Hangar will start as an after school program in the coming months starting with high school, down to the 5th and 6th grade elementary school level in the near future.
Hangar is a community center providing inclusive, innovative and sustainable programs & services improving individual and community well being. The Hangar is a safe place where community youth experience positive values through relationship in a loving and caring environment. The goal is to instill hope and encourage them to navigate life with a greater purpose. We do this through fun games, activities, job and life skill training and small group discussions.
- Christian Mentorship – Hangar strives to reach the youth of our community to build a moral foundation. We also plan to coach and promote opportunities such as college, trade school or employment.
- Building Community – We want to invest in our community by teaching useful life skills to effectively manage finances, time, and family. We also want to promote cross cultural understanding.
- Local Solutions – Our goal is to provide facilities and programs to meet the needs of our future generations as well as bridging the gap and maintaining the balance of Intergenerational equity in our local community. This will be provided with our self sustaining daycare center.
- Have Fun – Overall, we aim to provide an opportunity for social interaction and want to have fun throughout everything.
